Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need therapy?

It’s not unusual to feel like we should be able to handle things on our own. The truth is that everyone can use some help from time to time. If you’re feeling stuck, confused, frustrated, alone… therapy can help. You don’t have to do it on your own.

What can I expect from therapy?

Every therapist is different. What you can expect from me is a straightforward, direct approach. No bobble-head here. I’ll work with you to help you identify your goals for therapy then guide you on a path from where you are to where you’d like to be.

You can expect homework to enrich the therapy process. After all, we’re only together for one of the 168 hours in a week, so putting the skills I teach you to use will help you achieve your goals faster.

How much does therapy cost?

The initial 50-minute intake is $150, and each subsequent session after that is $135.

I understand that therapy can seem expensive. You’re worth the investment.

Do you take my insurance?

I am in network with BCBS and Cigna and will work with you to verify your benefits. You may still have a co-pay or other out-of-pocket expense if you have a high-deductible plan.

If you have another insurance provider, you may be eligible for reimbursement and can also utilize your HSA or FSA benefits to cover the cost of therapy.

If you have further questions, feel free to schedule a consultation.

How long will therapy last?

As long as it takes, and as short as possible.

As you probably can imagine, the answer is, “it varies.” Some of my clients work with me for a few weeks to a few months and others have been in and out of regular therapy with me over the course of several years.

Most clients start with weekly sessions and then taper off as their goals are met. If they find they need additional support, they may begin coming in weekly again.

I'm not sure what my problem is, can therapy help me figure it out?

Absolutely! Not everyone meets criteria for a diagnosis, and some people just have a sense that something in their life is amiss. Therapy can be a great way to explore and discover how to find more fulfillment in life.
